A Family Portrait Session at Attadale Foreshore with the Head Family
One of the joys of being a Perth family photographer is seeing how portraits can bring families together, especially when loved ones live far apart. The Head family — Dr. Rachel, Simon, and their two beautiful girls, Isla and Olivia — recently joined me at the Attadale foreshore for a session that was as much about connection as it was about photographs.
Simon and Rachel are originally from the UK, so this session held extra meaning. With the girls’ grandparents visiting all the way from England, it became the perfect opportunity to capture three generations together. Attadale, just minutes from the Heads’ home, provided the ideal setting: the river sparkling in the background, soft afternoon light, and wide open spaces for Isla and Olivia to explore.
The children delighted in showing their grandparents around the foreshore, turning the session into an adventure filled with giggles, cuddles, and playful moments. From heartfelt family portraits to candid shots of the girls running barefoot along the grass, the images captured both the closeness of their immediate family and the joy of having grandparents present from overseas.
For Simon and Rachel, sharing these photographs was just as important as creating them. With much of their extended family still in the UK, the portraits became a way to keep loved ones connected, offering a glimpse into how Isla and Olivia are growing up.
