A Sunset Session with the McNamee Family at Attadale Foreshore
As a Perth family photographer, I love when families choose a location that feels like home. For the McNamee family — Jess, James, and their three gorgeous girls, Billie, Pixie, and Isla — the Attadale foreshore was the perfect setting, just minutes from their house. With sweeping river views, soft evening light, and plenty of space for the girls to explore, it gave us the ideal backdrop for a relaxed and joy-filled portrait session.
From the very first frames, the McNamees’ warmth shone through. Billie, Pixie, and Isla were full of laughter and energy, while Jess and James joined in for those tender family moments that mean so much. We moved between candid play and more classic portraits, capturing the balance of fun and connection that makes family photography so meaningful. As the sun dipped lower over the river, the golden glow added that extra touch of magic Attadale is known for.
For the McNamees, these portraits hold an extra layer of importance. With much of their extended family living interstate on the eastern seaboard, their photographs became a way to stay connected — shared with grandparents, aunts, and uncles who don’t get to see the girls every day. That’s one of the true joys of booking a family portrait session: not only do you create keepsakes for yourself, but you also give loved ones a way to feel closer, no matter the distance.
To bring their photographs into their daily life, Jess and James chose framed fine art prints. Set in elegant frames — now proudly displayed at the entrance of their recently renovated family home — the prints have transformed their portraits into art pieces that greet family and friends the moment they walk in. It’s a beautiful reminder of what makes their home and family so special.
Every session is a chance to tell a story, and the McNamee family’s gallery is filled with love, connection, and joy. For me, this is the heart of family photography in Perth: capturing not only how your family looks, but how it feels to be together.
